»Paris by foot / Paris zu Fuß«
Published in 1986, Roger Melis’ »Paris by foot« was the first book by an East German photographer making exclusive use of street photography to portray life in a foreign city. In achieving a circulation figure of 40,000 copies, it gained true cult status. The pictures were taken in April 1982 when Melis was permitted to travel to the Seine for four weeks.
On the occasion of his 80th birthday a new edition of the book is published by Lehmstedt Verlag, and the gallery “argus fotokunst” is showcasing a selection of the best photographs in original prints.
