»Paradise is everywhere«

Patricia Escriche, Laure Gilquin,
Ana Kunst-Baur, Ingrid Vollet

The photographers Patricia Escriche, Laure Gilquin, Ana Kunst-Baur and Ingrid Vollet have, on their wanderings through Berlin, always thought of discovering a hidden paradise. But paradises are fleeting. They cannot be held on, rushing by the night, or crawling at the next moment along the asphalt. What paradisaical looks like, it ist not not, and we find a paradise where we do not search it. Paradise could also be a shooting star. Quick as a flash, it blinds us and takes us to another place. We become weightless and forget our reality. In our memory remains the light. And if the gigantic town of Berlin awakens in a chirping tinge, the little green springs out of its pavement, if, if … then we catch a paradise, perhaps, at some time. Some paradises do not reveal themselves at first sight, but sometimes only at the second, the photographic one.

Opening Reception on Thursday, June 8, 2017, 7 – 10 pm
7:30 pm Introduction by Wolf Kühnelt
8:30 pm Concert by Duo Mille Marzillier

Patricia Escriche was born in Ibiza, Spain, in 1983. After graduating in law, she moved to Berlin in 2006 and has since become intensively involved with photography. She took part in various photography workshops, seminars and exhibitions. In 2013, she published her first artist book in photography, Desvelos. She is currently working as a freelance photographer and exhibiting in Berlin.

Laure Gilquin, born 1981 in Paris, France, has been working as an artist and photographer. She thinks her work like a movement, which is stimulated by her travels, encounters and discovery as well as cooperation with other artists, poets, musicians. Out of that she develops photographs, books or workshops. In 2017, her photographic series « Fireworks and Gray zones » was shown in the Wanderatelier, Berlin. In 2014, she exhibited her photographs at the Off of the Biennale in Dakar.

The exhibition is part of »Paradise is everywhere« – a citywide joint project to celebrate the anniversary of the Reformation. It is being realized by Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH and in collaboration with the IGA Berlin 2017, the 36th Evangelischer Kirchentag, and the Evangelische Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz.
