Feature: Zine Series
DRIFTWOOD is an exciting new Fotozine which started in April 2016. It is a collectible which is published quarterly in a limited edition. Publisher and photographer in one is the Berliner Christian Reister.
In A5 format, the three Photozines to date, each with between 32 and 64 pages, contain coarse grained, contrasty with a Reister-typical angled and shaky black and white photographs. Most are printed as double-page spreads. Following the tradition that was established in his highly-regarded, in 2015 self-published book “Alle Katzen Grau“ (“All Cats are Grey“), Christian Reister shows pictures which he describes in the foreword as concomitant to his life. It comes as no surprise then, that the street and night scenes in the first and third photozines were shot in his hometown Berlin. DRIFTWOOD #2 is the result of a three week roadtrip in the USA, certainly other numbers in the future will also be dedicated to other places.
The Zine-series is sold exclusively over Christian Reister’s online shop.
Numbers 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 can be ordered together. The numbers will be sent after they have been respectively finished. Retrospectively ordered subscriptions will be sent all of the previously published numbers immediately after the order clears.
The DRIFTWOOD magazines are strictly limited to 50 each, making the Zine-series particularly attractive to collectors of rare photo books.
