Group Exhibition
»#fernweh«
Arno Schidlowski, Jens Sundheim, Kathrin Tschirner
An exhibition by aff Galerie in collaboration with DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum.
Curated by aff members Mika Gröber, Sarah Straßmann & Kathrin Tschirner.
Within the exhibition “#fernweh” the aff Galerie Berlin and the DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum, will examine contemporary photographic strategies on the theme of romanticism, based on the annual theme “Wanderlust” of the Alte Nationalgalerie.
Traditional romantic pictorial motifs are transferred into the present, or a departure from the concept of romanticism is thematised. The theme of “journey” is immanent to all selected photographic projects, but is expressed by a multitude of different artistic working methods. These range from traditional analogue strategies to digital formats and artistic documentary photography. Thematically, traditional notions of beauty and landscape representation are questioned, as well as inhospitable cityscapes are travelled or a hiking motif is created, that is influenced by digital globalization.
