Description

“Blurred” – adjective = indistinct, vague, unclear,…
“The line between fact and fiction is becoming blurred.”
– Collins Dictionary

France Dubois is Belgian – she is living and working in Brussels. Poetry and intuition shape her delicate photographs. Through the duality of beauty and weakness, the fragility of emotions is revealed by a hidden strangeness harbored in a world between dreams and reality.

Thoses pictures are driven by the need to feel alive, witnessing the development of someone’s physical & mental condition. «What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger». That said, some deeper wounds may break some parts of your being forever. You learn to survive. Some moments may imply falls, others victories, and you then attempt breathing while suffering as little as possible.

Annabel Werbrouck is Belgian. She has been working and living in Berlin for 4 years. After finishing her Geography Studies at ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles), she joined Agnès Varda School of Photography in order to study the photographic genre. At first, an important part of her work was focused on social photography. A striking event in her private life which happened 3 years ago changed her orientation towards more intimate & personal photographies.

The quest to intimacy is a central element of her photographic work. An intimacy which is difficult to show: Annabel is trying to bypass that difficulty by approaching it indirectly – a flower as well as a landscape might suggest it. Her pictures are taken from her daily life, her own intimacy. As the narration progresses, she is trying – although mystery & anonymity are to remain present – to allow everyone to make sense out of it with their own feelings, by recreating their personal «story». Inspiration on this subject came to her by realising that anyone builds up from its own «story», its failures, alternating between happier moments & difficult ones, but moments that are forever part of the past: whatever happens, we can’t come back. And all these past events contibute anyway to «what we are».
