»Ondes« focuses on the energy waves that modulate our existences while exceeding their limits, thus escaping our ability to fully grasp them. This project was born out of a very special period in my life when two events that at first seemed to be diametrically opposed – the gestation of my first child and the passing away of my father – occurred almost simultaneously, so that it became impossible for me not to notice their similarities, particularly in their connection to a dimension that surpasses our understanding.
Starting from this experience, I went in search of the traces of those energy waves and the alterations that they had provoked in landscapes like old glaciers, caves or volcanic territories – whose genesis is intimately related to the destruction of what once existed – that I later combined with visual recordings made from ultrasound (high-frequency) waves, namely echograms.
The resulting project consists of a series of images which, while suggesting the passage from one state into another, invites to consider these phases not as separate entities, but rather as a continuity, even though our senses do not allow us to perceive it at first sight. From a broader perspective, »Ondes« is a search that goes about our connection to where we come from and where we shall return, that links us with immemorial times, in a vision where everything is intertwined and interdependent, which also echoes with the latest developments in quantum physics showing that nothing is solid and that beyond the tangible and the material, there is energy.
»Ondes« presents a vision of reality that does not forget that reality also refers to what we don’t see. It is an exploration of the elements based on the principle that everything is in a perpetual transformation, whether we are able to perceive it or not.
