Axel Lambrette
More and more people are moving from Berlin to the surrounding rural areas. The press calls small towns like Gerswalde “hipster villages”. Worlds collide. Photographer Axel Lambrette has been documenting this trend since 2017. He has created vivid images of those who flee from the big city and those who have lived in these villages for generations. Engraved on the subjects’ faces, the portraits show traces of this new and old kind of rural life.
