»RED BLACK AND GREEN – German Portraits«
Nataly Dietz
People in working clothes, at their working environment. They take a break or pose for the camera. All protagonists have something in common: their african roots. Every single portrait appears realistic. But in combination with the others there is a doubt. Is it real or is it fictitious? With her portraits Nataly Dietz questions traditional surroundings. She provokes another view on apparently everyday situations and familiar figures of thought. How big is the discrepancy between our self-image in the media (a multi-cultural, emancipated society) and what we individually perceive? How does our cultural perception function in relation to skin colour, physiognomy and profession? The artists work (photography and film) deals with contemporary themes like privacy, information society and gender.
