Duo Exhibition + Publication
»Überfahrt«
Michael Disqué & Roman Ehrlich
The photographer Michael Disqué and the writer Roman Ehrlich embarked on a crossing together: they traveled for forty days from Hamburg to Qingdao, China, in a container ship. Experiencing the closedness of the container ship cosmos, the isolation and the monotony led to the photo-text essay »Überfahrt« (Spector Books, 2020), which, in addition to photos, also collects observations, readings and reflections from both. On the one hand, the functionality of global trade and the working conditions leave you speechless, on the other hand, the journey calls up mythologies and motifs of seafaring, which Roman Ehrlich explores in his texts.
When they returned, the artists also brought along sound recordings of the sounds of the ship and the sea, which the theater musician Matthias Krieg transformed into a sound composition. At the opening reception, Michael Disqué, Roman Ehrlich and Matthias Krieg invite you to a text-image-sound performance on board the LCB.
The exhibition can be seen in the LCB before and after the evening events (program see lcb.de) or with prior registration at +49 30 8169960.
